What is Moving Meditation?

Moving Meditation is a unique practice that nurtures mindfulness, body awareness, and emotional balance through intuitive, embodied movement in dialogue with the environment. Each session is tailored to meet your individual needs, providing a holistic approach to reconnecting with the body’s wisdom and natural rhythms and to cultivating a sense of inner peace. Whether you’re looking for stress relief, a greater sense of presence and clarity, or a deepening of your connection with nature and your body, this practice can help you achieve a more grounded and harmonious state of being.

How It Works

When we meet we’ll begin by discussing your intention, and then embark on a process of guided movement, listening to the body’s natural rhythms and responses. We will start from the movements that your body already knows, such as walking, sitting or standing for example, to bring more mindfulness and spontaneity into them and we’ll slowly expand to other possibilities of being especially in connection with the environment.

Sessions can take place indoors or outdoors or a mixture of both depending on needs and intentions. Connection to the natural world is an important part of this work which offers great physical and emotional benefits. Interaction with the environment can be adapted indoors and it is often preferable to start indoors.

What to Expect

In each session, you will be gently guided to explore and become more aware of your own body’s intelligence and movement language. The process is non-linear and responsive to the moment, encouraging you to listen deeply to your body’s needs and sensations. The focus is on cultivating awareness of movement, not only within your body but in response to the environment around you. You will be guided in interacting with physical surroundings and objects (especially when working indoors) in order to develop new ways of moving that enhance your connection to both self and environment. We will use and revisit everyday gestures that your body already perform on a regular basis such as walking, sitting, standing or picking up objects. There is no expectation to dance although more energetic movement, playfulness and creativity are also welcome.

Moving Meditation can be especially beneficial for individuals seeking:

  • A deeper understanding of their body and its signals.

  • Greater self-awareness and emotional clarity.

  • Relief from the stresses of daily life through grounding movement practices.

  • A reconnection to the wild, instinctive aspects of the self, promoting ecological awareness.

  • A practice that harmonises the body with natural environments, tapping into the rhythms of the earth.

  • To enhance creativity through exploratory embodied practices.

Who is it For?

This practice is suitable for anyone, regardless of physical ability or experience with movement or meditation. It is ideal for those who want to deepen their connection to their body and the natural world while fostering a calm, centred sense of presence.

What clients say

Alison, Dance Movement Psychotherapist

“Claire’s intuitive guidance helped me rediscover a deep trust in my body and movement, freeing me from old constraints and connecting me to my surroundings with ease and curiosity. As a dance movement psychotherapist, I had not experienced this sense of embodied trust before despite years of practice, but Claire’s sessions allowed me to break through. Her work inspired profound awareness, energised my body, and left me with the empowering realisation that everything I need is already within me.”

Polly, educational mental health practitioner

“My sessions with Claire took me on a profound but gentle journey into the story of my body. I found that the language and experience that came from that place was subtle, intangible, and yet somehow managed to have strong ripples through the rest of my life - helping me to learn about myself, and find news ways of moving and being. Claire’s holding is somehow both fierce and loving. I felt protected by the space she opened, and yet challenged to step up and move towards the newness. I highly recommend working with her, for anyone who is curious about their body and connection to the wider web of life.”
