Sound Massage

Sound massages involve vibrational singing bowls placed gently on the clothed body, allowing soothing vibrations to penetrate through the skin, muscles, and deep tissue. The body is mainly composed of water making it a great conductor of sound and vibration, encouraging the rhythmic pulsations to flow throughout.

Sound vibrations help to release physical tension and ease aches while also calming the nervous system, supporting stress reduction, and encouraging emotional release. The practice helps to restore the mind-body balance and leave you in a deep state of relaxation and rejuvenation. This grounding experience promotes calm, clarity, and overall well being, giving you the opportunity to reset and reconnect with yourself.

Sound massages are also an excellent recovery tool following fitness and yoga sessions, assisting with muscle recovery, and tension and blockage release to support the body's natural healing process.

    • Vibrations travel deep in the body to relieve muscle tension, pain, and physical stress

    • Shifts brainwave patterns for deep relaxation and restoration, improving sleep quality

    • Calms the nervous system to reduce anxiety, overwhelm, and mental fatigue, and lowers heart rate and blood pressure

    • Helps release stored emotional tension and discomfort

Sound Healing

Journey through a pure sound experience to calm the senses and release any stress or tension in the body, regulating the nervous system. Different instruments are used throughout the session (such as singing bowls, tibetan bowls, percussions, chimes) as you lie down comfortably and soak up the sounds and vibrations. The human body is primarily made up of water, making it a great conductor to absorb all the sounds and vibrations down to a cellular level.

Breathwork and Somatics

Immerse yourself in therapeutic and mindful mind/body practices combining conscious and intentional breathing with body awareness, focusing on internal sensations and emotional states. Breathwork involves controlled breathing patterns that can either activate or deactivate the mind and body, promoting mental and emotional regulation, shifting “fight or flight” states of being into “rest and digest”.

Somatics uses breath, movement and touch to tap into and release stored emotions and traumas, bringing awareness to the body’s signals and feeling into any discomforts that arise, instead of rationally analysing them.

Combining these powerful practices can help you better understand your state of being and work through any stored energy, emotions and sensations that may be disrupting your inner balance and peace.

    • Balancing the mind and body into a meditative state by focusing on the breath and internal sensations.

    • Releasing emotions, stress, and tension through breathing patterns and body awareness.

    • Increased oxygen flow to the brain to enhance cognitive functions, focus, and clarity.

    • Deep breathing slows down the heart rate, regulates blood pressure, improves circulation.

    • Triggers the vagus nerve to shift the body from “flight or flight” to “rest and digest”.

    • Reduces cortisol to calm the body and promote deep relaxation.

    • Increased oxygen to muscles, aiding recovery and improving stamina, and strengthening the diaphragm.

  • Breathwork is not advised for clients with the following contraindications:

    • Serious cardiovascular issues (Uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart failure, angina, arrhythmia, recent heart attack, or stroke), and uncontrolled diabetes

    • Severe respiratory issues (asthma, lung conditions)

    • Detached Retina or glaucoma

    • Seizure Disorders (including Epilepsy)

    • Severe Mental Health Conditions (including severe anxiety, schizophrenia, psychosis)

    • Pregnancy, especially the First trimester

    • Use of prescription blood thinning medications

Somatics, Breathwork, Sound Healing

A journey that combines somatic exercises, breathwork, and sound healing for a full holistic experience. We begin by bringing awareness to the body and internal sensations through gentle movement and mindfulness. Breathwork is then incorporated to process and release emotions and stagnant energy, soothing the nervous system through deep breathing techniques that allow the energy to flow through the body and calm the mind. Sound healing provides space and time for integration, experiencing sounds and vibrations that relax and rejuvenate the mind and body.

    • Deep nervous system regulation - the combination of practices work together to bring the mind and body to safety and calm.

    • Processing and releasing emotions through breathing patterns, body awareness, and sound vibrations.

    • Stress and anxiety relief through calming the body and slowing down the mind, helping you ground and be present.

    • Relaxing the body and the mind to enhance clarity and focus.

    • Moving stagnant energy in the body, leaving you feeling lighter and refreshed.

    • Improves physical wellbeing - gentle movement, increased oxygen to the brain and body, and vibrations that travel down to a cellular level, relieving aches and tension.

  • These practices are not advised for clients with the following contraindications:

    • Pregnancy

    • Seizure Disorders (including Epilepsy)

    • Severe Mental Health Conditions (including severe anxiety, schizophrenia, psychosis)

    • Serious cardiovascular issues (Uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart failure, angina, arrhythmia, recent heart attack, or stroke), and uncontrolled diabetes

    • Severe respiratory issues (asthma, lung conditions)

    • Recent Surgeries or Deep Injuries

    • Implanted Medical Devices

    • Underlying Medical Conditions (should consult with their healthcare provider and provide confirmation that they are able to go through with the session)

    • Specific Sensitivities (such as sound/sensory sensitivities or hearing impairments to be discussed with the facilitator)

  • Sound Bath is passive, you lie down, receive the sound. Breathwork is active, you do specific breathing patterns guided by a facilitator. Somatics is interactive, body-led practice with a practitioner attuning to your nervous system. All three regulate the nervous system; they do it in different ways.

  • Some practices are gentle and settling; others can feel more intense (faster breath, emotional waves). Sabah always explains what's coming and you can stop at any point.

  • Yes, particularly Somatic work with Sabah, which is trauma-informed by design. For complex trauma, this is often more effective than starting with talking therapy alone.

  • Sound Bath: generally yes, lying on your side. Breathwork: needs adjustments, email us at hello@abuelitas.co.uk to have a talk with Sabah before your booking if you have any questions. Somatics: yes, with adjustments. Tell us when you book.

  • Yes, for all three. Sound Bath is the easiest first session if you've never done anything like this before.
