Deep Tissue Massage in short
Deep Tissue Massage works the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using slow, sustained pressure. It's for the tension that doesn't respond to lighter work. Sessions are 60, 90, or 120 minutes. Available at both our Hackney and Islington studios.
What Deep Tissue Massage helps with
-
Chronic muscle tension that hasn't shifted with lighter massage
-
Knots and trigger points that have been there for months
-
Long-standing postural patterns, shoulders, neck, lower back
-
Recovery from injury, once the acute phase has passed
-
Tension that builds up across weeks of stress or physical work
-
Bodies that find lighter massage frustrating because nothing seems to move

What a Deep Tissue Massage session involves
After a short conversation about what's going on, you'll undress to your level of comfort and lie on the table. Your practitioner works slowly through the layers, surface muscle first, then progressively deeper into the fascia. Sustained pressure is applied to areas of tension; you breathe through it.
Sessions are often slower and quieter than lighter massage, the pace is part of the technique. You may feel sore for a day or two afterwards, the way you would after a hard workout. This is normal and tends to settle within 48 hours.

What clients say
"Had an incredible deep tissue massage with Rohan. Felt extremely comfortable, being my first full body massage. I will definitely be back."

Frequently Asked Questions
Deep Tissue is the technique, slow, deep, sustained. Sports Massage uses the same depth but is goal-led for athletic recovery or performance, often with stretching and movement work added. If you want depth without the rehab framing, book Deep Tissue.
Holistic Deep Tissue is Simona's signature session, same depth, but layered with breath, somatic awareness, and attention to the nervous system. Holistic is right for tension that doesn't feel only physical. See the comparison blog for fuller detail.
It can be intense where the tension is deepest. It should never feel like injury. Your practitioner will check in throughout and can adjust pressure at any point.
For chronic patterns: every 2–4 weeks until you feel a shift, then monthly for maintenance.
